My Portfolio Feature

Hi there Everyone,

I hope you are all gearing up for 3 family fun times: Halloween, Guy Fawkes and yes Christmas, my favourite time of the year we just don't have it complete down here in New Zealand, we have two options regarding weather here, either down the beach or in the back yard sprawled out under the hot blazing sun, firing up the BBQ,adorned with cold salads, guzzling heaps of water, or stuck inside cos its raining outside, but still hot and sticky... I would prefer the cold freezing snow, huggled around a fire, toasting marshmellows and having a hot dinner with all the trimmings...But what ever kind of weather Christmas Day brings to all of us around the world, one thing we do all share is families coming together , the delight and smiles on all the children's faces opening up all their presents and just spending that quality time with each other. And another good excuse to eat all that wonderful food, calories and all.

On to the next little topic, I have been accepted to have a portfolio of some of my creations appearing in the gallery of Cotton Ridge Create website, I have added the link below, please check it out and comment. There is other portfolio's of more Artist.. at this stage I.m the only one from New Zealand. Link: http://www.cottonridgellc.com/portfolio/paper-creations-by-alison-harris/

Autumn Layout and Decorated Stick Pins

Hi Everyone,
it is labour Weekend here in The land of The Long White Cloud( or should I say Long Black Cloud) which has been around our skies since Friday..but
More time to do some more scrapbook layouts, beaded stick pins( which I got this from a wonderful crafter over in YouTube)

  https://www.youtube.com/user/Jennings644

You can enter stick pins in the "search channel" tab

I also finally sorted out my Facebook Fan Page, so if you wonder over to there and please add my fan page to your likes link is here
  http://www.http://www.facebook.com/papercreationsbyalison

In there I will share all the YouTube videos that really have inspired me and there are some very talented ladies that I follow quite regular. I will eventually take the big plunge and upload some videos of my own (that's gonna be a little scary for me.

Okay, up on the agenda today is one layout I have completely changed. This layout was scrap booked in 2003 and it looked boring, now I'm not the sort of scrapbooker who will take apart an entire album just cause it's boring, today's trends and your style changes over the years and as long as the photos are in an album doesn't matter if they don't measure up to your scrapbook standards of today. The reason I decided to changed it, I was entering a challenge(I sorry I did forget who's challenge) the challenge was a layout for Autumn, I knew I had no Autumn photos to scrapbook, so I browsed through one of my little daughter Alisa's scrapbook albums and found a page that kinda looked sad, missing something... so here is the updated page, and i'm really happy with it...it's a shame I didn't take a photo of the before layout... silly me!!!!!LOL

Honestly this photo I took today and I must of taken at least a dozen of them before I was comfortable with the outcome, the natural lighting changed, our skies clouded over. This was the last shot... on the bonnet of my car using a cranberry colour  piece of material.
The little ones in the photos(center) are Alisa(my daughter) in the background and my Grand daughter Natalie in the front. They were 3 here and now they are cheeky 12 year old's.

These next photos I took before the layout and the shooting conditions was perfect, the right balance.. Stick pins

I enjoyed making these and was quite disappointed when I had no more pins to decorate. Please pop over to YouTube and visit Jennings644 her videos are very entertaining and you will bound to have a good laugh, she has a real good sense of humour.
Well that's about it for today, hope you enjoyed my blog!!
Until next time, take care

Showcasing my Scrapbook Layouts

Hi Everyone,

The last of the term school holidays have come to an end, they're off to school on Monday, Yaye, with only 10 weeks to Christmas, which reminds me, I must start making my Christmas cards soon

Well, I've been pretty busy these last few months making more Mini albums and just started applying for a place in Design Teams in some pretty cool paper craft sites across the Internet. I also have taken the plunge and entered into some Monthly Challenges, which I will go into in my next Blog with some links to the next lot of challenges.

This week I am showcasing some more projects I submitted to design Team calls and Monthly challenges.
First is a Layout of my youngest Granddaughter, Julianna. In this particular layout  the main photos are mounted on a open out booklet containing more hidden photos and a pocket with 3 small tags for journaling.

The next layout was a submission in Graphic45 monthly challenge- summer. In this layout i used Graphic45's Tropical Travelogue papers (of course). the large tropical flower has a Paua shell (abalone)beaded charm that I hand sewn all the beads on and adhered to the center of the flower(how tropical is that!!). The large photo at the top left has 2 removable tags for the journaling, the photo underneath that has a ribbon tab to open and  to reveal yet another photo and more space for journaling. I love aded these elements to my layouts as you can have more space to add more photos without over-crowding your layout.

The final layout was submitted to Artfull Crafts, Timaru, in their September Challenge-Spring. Papers were Echo park's springtime. The flowers were cut using Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die cut.
Here in New Zealand, Tui's are spotted more often during Spring, their song is so beautiful. Our Tui's are a Native and protected birds of New Zealand. The photos were taken in my eldest daughters garden, they were feeding on the necter from the blooms.

I hope you enjoy browsing through these, will have some more paper craft eye candy in my next blog, until then take care..

Design Team application for Epiphany Crafts

Hi all,
It's late here in new Zealand , five minutes past midnight. I've been working on 4 projects to submit to Epiphany Crafts to apply to be on their Design Team, keep fingers crossed for me. It would be awesome to be on their design team. The longest part in designing these layouts is finding really good photos in my stash to work with.
First layout to show is using a photo of my Grandson, Isaac(who is now 8 yrs)and the first black and white photo I've scrapbooked patterned paper used Three Bugs in a Rug, Tool Time, used matching buttons and cut out by hand 2 trucks.
Next layout is using a photo of my Grandaughter Julianna(who is going to be turning 5 in 2 weeks).Patterned paper used here is from Fancy Pants Designs, Sweet Pea range-Emma. Flowers and bee cut using cricut Flower Shoppe and Give a Hoot, epoxy embellishments on hidden tag behind the main photo and on centres of the flowers. Added bling to some of  the background paper. Made a bling butterfly using tear and heart shapes drew the butterfly body.Added pink lace
and another photo of the layout. Behind the main photo is a large hidden tag with another photo and journaling to add on the back. I love creating these types of layouts as you can hide the journaling so the whole layout pops
This next layout features my daughter Alisa(who is turning 12 in a weeks time) Sorry for the bare bum, but toddlers will be toddlers. The layout has a kiwi theme using Paua shell paper, matted on black cardstock. Have added 3 epoxy circles, cut the little circles  from some wallet sized photos of shells which I used for props for my Paua shell Jewellery range.
Here is the close up of the epoxy embellishments
And finally my fourth project, yip another easel card. The patterned paper is from Die Cuts With A View(DCWV)the Mariposa matstack. This is an awesome range of papers, I just love it. Will have to get me some of their 12 x 12 size of this.Again I have used epoxy embellishements on the centres of the 3 flowers, added some bling to the butterfly which was cut using Cricut cartridge Wall Decor and More.

Be sure to leave some comments and any questions. Will post another blog tomorrow a baby's animal chandelier mobile I just completed
Bye for now
